Does The 2020 Hyundai Palisade Come With Wifi?

2020 Hyundai Palisade 10.25 Inch Display

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade does a lot of things right, it has an appealing albeit polarizing style. It has a lot of value for the money and is arguably more luxurious than most vehicles in its class. However, one area that the Palisade lacks in is entertainment.

Now, I will first say I am not a fan of in-car entertainment systems solely because many of them are not good. They are often incredibly low res, slow and come with very few features. Hyundai choosing to not include such a feature is not surprising.

However, the question as to whether it comes with in-car wifi is a sad no.

The 2020 Palisade Does Not Come With Wifi

Now, this is annoying there is no in-car wifi hotspot for the device. You can connect the Palisade to your home wifi to perform map and infotainment system updates but it can’t broadcast a wifi network.

The reasoning I have been told ranges from it was too expensive to include in the vehicle to, a simple when they did their polls it wasn’t a requested feature.

I personally, would disagree with the lack of inclusion because almost every other major manufacturer comes with in-car wifi because it’s useful for devices with no cellular connectivity. iPads, my own Fossil watch, and other devices have the ability to connect to wifi but not a 4G connection.

One solution to is to use your phone as a hotspot. But as a tech geek, I can tell you mobile device performance for a hotspot is really poor at best. If you have several passengers (3 kids on their iPads for instance) can result in really poor loading times which can be annoying.

Adding In-Car Wifi To The 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Now, just because they lack the hardware to facilitate a wifi hotspot doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. You can purchase a device that connects into the cars OBD2 port known as the Harman Spark.

You plug this into the OBD2 port and got through the setup to have an in-car wifi solution!

While I do wish Hyundai provided a solution on their own at least the aftermarket is flush with solutions!

I love cars, but I am very much a pragmatist that is why I created Daily Driver Tips where I understand for most people safety and a good infotainment system matters more than horsepower.

Have your say!
